PVC windows are an increasingly common choice because they are easier to adjust and better maintain the temperature in your home. But when installed, you probably didn’t know two important things, which will certainly be of use this winter.

The windows should be lubricated

Although this is a simple fact, many people do not know or forget that lubrication is a solution for squeaking of the mechanisms and poor adhesion of the window. If you regularly maintain the windows, there will be no need for handyman services. The metal parts such as hinges, locks and locking systems, as well as all the moving parts of windows, need to be cleaned from time to time and also lubricated with special oil, at least once a year.

Change the ‘regime’ on the windows

You don’t need a handyman to set the windows to “winter mode” and ‘summer mode’. Just open the window and locate the screw on the side where the handle is and set it with an Allen wrench. Turn the screw located on the side of the hinge inward, this screw is responsible for regulating the force of the window frame.

When setting the windows, handymen usually leave the window in the ‘standard mode’. If you are not sure what is the ‘mode’ of your windows and doors, simply press a sheet of paper with the window. If it can be easily removed, it is set to ‘summer mode’, but if the tears then it’s in ‘winter mode.

It is not advisable to leave the windows and doors in ‘winter mode’ the whole year because the load on the tire frame significantly increases, but it will wear out quickly and you will soon have to change parts of the window.
