When Dr. Harold Kar died in Newcastle, United Kingdom at an age of 89, all his legacy, including the dusty old garage, went to his relatives. Uncle Harold was known as “eccentric”. Therefore, none of the cousins had any idea what was going behind the door of the garage. They knew that he kept the cars inside, but they were all astonished by what they found when they entered the garage, which stayed closed for years.

When they opened it, they found this gem:

Inside they found a Bugatti, old and full of dust. But this was no ordinary Bugatti, but a real jewel of the automotive history: Type 57S Atalante, one of the most luxurious vehicles, a very rare and valuable in the world. Today, its value is estimated at $ 8.5 million! It is no secret that the factory Bugatti created works of art, but this vehicle is definitely one of the most important masterpieces. They produced only 43 cars of this model, and the production was completed on 4 May 1937. This Bugatti has its own history. Its first owner was Francis Curzon, English aristocrat, an honorary member of the British Parliament. He was also a famous race car driver. Even then, the British had an impressive fleet of cars, so the Bugatti Atalante spent more time in the garage than on the road, which explains the low mileage.

The famous car was resold several times, until 1955, when it was left in the hands of Uncle Harold. For a while he amused himself with his Bugatti, but the 1960 the car remained forever locked in the garage: his driver’s license has expired. Harold was not a simple man. In the garage they discovered dozens of letters to prominent collectors, who offered an astronomical sum for the car! But Uncle Harold was adamant. The bugatti has never left his garage, as well as the classic Aston Martin. Finally, his successors put the legendary car for sale.

Bugatti Type 57S Atalante was sold for impressive $ 4 million.

None of the successors of uncle Harold did not hope that, when they opened old dusty garage, they will become millionaires.
